Inside the Youverify Clients Mixer 2026.

The first guest arrived at Lilygate Hotel, Lekki at 4:35pm on Friday, 25 September. The last one left at 10:22pm. In between, 53 guests from banks, fintechs, insurance firms, mobile money operators and gaming companies spent an evening doing something compliance professionals rarely get to do together.

The Youverify Clients Mixer is in its third year, and this edition was built differently. Previous editions have always leaned on open networking, but this one was programmed, with sessions happening roughly every half hour, because the team had learned that a room full of people who have just left the office need a reason to stay.

Who Was in the Room?

Seventy-three people in total, counting the 20 from Youverify. The guest list read a cross-section of Nigerian financial services: commercial banks, a development bank, microfinance banks, payment service banks, mobile money operators, insurers, gaming operators and several of Nigeria's larger fintechs.

The job titles mattered more than logos. Heads of Compliance. Heads of Operations. KYC managers, fraud managers, product leads. These are the people who spend their working lives on the other side of a support ticket or a quarterly review call, and who mostly know each other as names in email threads.

On the Youverify side, the evening pulled in teams that usually sit in front of customers: Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success, and those that do not: Product, Legal, Data Protection, Operations, Finance and Growth.

The Conversations Between the Games?

Seven games ran across the evening, spaced roughly 30 minutes apart. Seven vouchers went out as prizes, four for SPAR Nigeria and three for TotalEnergies.

The three Mentimeter quiz rounds were the part the team will be thinking about for a while. Thirty questions in total, all about Youverify's products, services and positioning, answered live by a room of people who use them. It was a game. It was also, accidentally, the most honest customer research the company has run all year.

Compliance is a lonely function. The person responsible for sanctions screening at a mid-sized bank rarely gets to compare notes with a counterpart at a payment service bank, and the questions they share are specific: how are you handling the alert volume, what did your examiner ask about, who on your team owns the quarterly return. Several of those conversations went on when the games stopped.

Teams met people across customer organisations they would never normally reach, and a few conversations started that would have taken months of scheduling to arrange.

What the Room Knew, and What It Didn't

Average scores climbed from 83% in the first round to 91% in the second and third. Guests were strongest exactly where you would hope. Identity and business verification questions scored 98%. Questions about fraud and transaction monitoring signals hit 100% in the final round. Nobody in the room was left confused about what Youverify does at its core.

Then came the question about how many countries Youverify supports. Just under a third of the room got it right. That one stung, in a useful way. If two-thirds of the people who already work with us cannot place our geographic reach, that is a communication problem sitting squarely on our side of the table. Our country coverage is public, detailed and apparently not something we talk about enough.

A few other questions landed in the same place. Fewer guests than expected could name Vyra, the AI assistant that works across the workflows, or identify Case Management as the workflow that handles investigations after a flag is raised. Both are newer in the product story.

The pattern was clear: strong recognition of the things Youverify has been known for, weaker recognition of what has been added recently. For a company that spent the last two years moving from identity verification into fraud prevention and anti-money laundering, that is worth knowing. You cannot assume a repositioning has landed just because the website has changed.

What Happens Next?

The Clients Mixer becomes an annual fixture. The format works.

The quiz results go to the Product, Growth and Sales teams as a to-do list rather than a scoreboard. Country coverage, Vyra, Case Management and how onboarding brings KYC, KYB and identity verification together all need to be said more often and more plainly, in the places customers actually look. Some of that is a product marketing job.

And the follow-ups happen this week, because the point of a room like that is what comes after it. One guest asked, somewhere between a game and a drink, whether we would do this again next year. Based on how long people stayed, that question has answered itself.
